THE ORIGINS OF GRAPEFRUIT

Grapefruit is born from a cross between a pomelos (citrus fruit native to Malaysia) and an orange. Its first name is Citrus paradisi. In North America, its introduction in 1823 in Florida was very successful. It is also famous as the basis of a miracle diet in 1930.
